The Skull Tree of Cannock Chase

Last week I went to see the Skull Tree located on Cannock Chase. The name seems to have come from locals, Tim Griffin came across it on 15th February 2024 and posted it directly as the ‘ Tree of skulls’, it would seem it is less visited than the famous ‘Groot Tree’ located on the nearby.

The main reason for visiting this was because it looks like something straight out of ‘sleepy hollow’, it seemed mystical and capactivating, and I thought followers of my page will love it.

Since posting my video of the tree, it has since become somewhat viral on Facebook. On the video, within the middle of the tree, an animal skull had been placed there. We did not place this here, I did take a picture of it and left it where I found it.

I think someone has placed it here to go along with the name of the tree but it most definitely was not us.

Obviously, Cannock chase as a vast history associated to the paranormal, and even though nothing is publicly reported online with this tree, the area of  Brocton Coppice in which it is located most certainly has. The specific area, as seen, a lot of suicides and close by is the ruins of building that was connected to the quarry.

Interestingly, I did have a few followers comment stating they had seen a strange man around the tree at times who seemed to do rituals around it, and this would not surprise me in the slightest. The reason why I did not move or touch the skull is because I thought it may have been being used as a place for worship,  it would seem a few have even rang the police on him because at the time of sighting him he’s been naked.

One follower commented the following:

‘Used to ride up there and once a man in a black cloak with a hood on came from behind the tree, he put his hands in the air and my beautiful horse had a fit. The man turned round and said blessed be child now turn and leave. My horse could have beaten red rum that day, I have not been back since (this was 30 years ago), all I can say is this man was not from this world’.
